According to the electronic portal of the General Department of Taxation, the Internal Inspection Department responsible for handling complaints, denunciations, and combating corruption (General Department of Taxation) has collaborated with the Party Committee’s Inspection Committee and the Personnel Organization Department to conduct a public lottery for the random selection of 71 individuals for asset and income verification.
From the lottery results on 31/8, in addition to the department heads, there are 37 officials at the deputy department head and deputy division head levels; 9 individuals from the deputy department and deputy director ranks will undergo asset verification.
The verification process will cover the honesty and completeness of the asset and income declaration submitted by the officials as well as explanations for the origins of additional assets and income per the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Law.
The General Department of Taxation emphasizes that efficiently organizing the verification of assets and income is one of the core tasks of the sector; it aids in enhancing the awareness and responsibility of tax officials in declaring and controlling their assets and income, fostering a modern and integrity-driven tax official workforce.
Prior to the General Department of Taxation, Da Nang has also conducted a lottery for the asset verification of three individuals from the Department of Planning and Investment, and two individuals from the One Member Limited Liability Company General Publishing House.
According to Decree 130/2020 on monitoring the assets and income of individuals with positions and authority within agencies and organizations, before January 31 each year, the head of the asset monitoring agency must approve the contents and issue the verification plan; the provincial chief inspector will issue the annual verification plan after presenting it to the provincial chairman for content approval. The plan must ensure that 20% of agencies, organizations, and units within its control are included; for the Ministries of Public Security, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Finance, at least 10% must be ensured.
Within 10 days from the date the plan is issued, the agency monitoring assets and income will randomly select individuals for verification. This selection shall be conducted transparently through a lottery or by using computer software. The number of selected individuals must be at least 10% of those required to file declarations each year at each agency, including at least one head or deputy head of the agency or organization.
